Project Queensland State Tennis Centre – Outdoor Show Courts
Size 2200m2
Location Tennyson, Brisbane Australia
Brief The brief was to provide weather protection to championship size show courts and meet international tennis standards. Fabritecture designed the structures to be clearspan in both directions to allow unobstructed viewing while remaining in harmony with the main stadium.
Solution The final design consisted of two identical turtle back shaped canopies, fully framed with CHS curved arches, edge beams and integrated support trusses held up by only one column in each corner. Each structure is clad in perfectly tensioned PTFE Membrane patterned and fabricated into one piece per structure. In addition 21 Hypar spectator structures were commissioned.

Project Hope Island Resort

Location Hope Island, Gold Coast Australia
Brief The brief from the client was to create an exclusive area at Hope Island Resort on the Gold Coast Queensland where patrons could enjoy the relaxing outdoor ambiance and take in the breath taking golf course views.
Solution The structure allows light, air flow and unrestricted viewing opportunities with vistas down the fairways, taking full advantage of the natural surrounds. The result is an innovative custom architectural design which is both aesthetically pleasing and maintains symmetry with the existing buildings.

Award 2009 ACASPA Award for Shade Structures
Project Sydney Aquarium Dugong‚ at Mermaid Lagoon

Location Sydney Aquarium Darling Harbour Sydney
Brief The clients brief was to cover the entire floating exhibit pool with shade cloth in an arched shape that provided an open feeling within whilst maintaining the same curved design as the main Sydney Wildlife World roof structure.
Solution Sydney Aquarium's Dugongs @ Mermaid Lagoon is a truly unique exhibit that presented many challenges to overcome. The final lightweight structure fabricated from Monotec 370 is supported by a complex grid of cables and customised components that maximize design efficiencies through innovative thinking.

Award 2008 ACASPA Award for Geosynthetics/Liners
Project Lindenow Storage Basin
Size 5400m2
Location Victoria Australia
Brief Provide a cover over a dam to the size of 60m wide by 90m long with the primary cause of keeping ducks and animals out of the dam, whilst reducing Algae growth and increasing the quality of the water.
Solution The final design was an efficient lightweight cable system that spanned in both directions over the distance required at a low horizontal level using a fabric specifically for evaporation control that also solved the clients project requirements.

Location Darling Harbour Sydney Australia
Brief Provide a cover Showcasing Australia's unique flora and fauna right in the heart of Darling Harbour, Sydney.
Solution The final design inspired from the skeletal frame of a python needed to accommodate nine ecosystems simulated within the facility. Whilst the uniqueness of this structure allows visitors to be completely immersed in the exhibits. The elegantly curved mesh roof creates an imaginative and attractive addition to Sydney's foreshore, while providing a natural and functional home to Australia's unique wildlife.

Project Mpowerdome Entry Structure

Location Fadden Canberra Australia
Brief Provide a unique entrance structure, to lure players and spectators to their reception and registration area.
Solution Four inverted cones with columns that splay out in different angles, double as downpipes to stream line the design. A unique focal point that welcomes players and spectators to Canberra latest sporting venue, the mpowerdome, located in Fadden.
